The Dallas Derby Devils are proud to announce that we will be hosting the inaugural Contenders Cup, an unofficial WFTDA Division 2 tournament, taking place July 31 through August 2 in North Texas.

The Contenders Cup is designed to expand competitive opportunities for teams and create more meaningful tournament play within the roller derby community. As the sport continues to grow and evolve, this event aims to provide a platform for highly competitive teams that fall just outside the current regional tournament qualification line.

Eligibility for the Contenders Cup will be extended to the next 12 teams in the WFTDA South Region following the regional tournament invitation cutoff in the April rankings.

The Dallas Derby Devils view the Contenders Cup as a pilot event — an opportunity to explore and demonstrate the viability of a Division 2 tournament structure within the modern WFTDA competitive landscape. Our goal is to create a high-quality, community-driven tournament experience that highlights the depth of talent across the region while fostering connection, competition, and collaboration.

We are excited to welcome teams, officials, volunteers, and fans from across the region to North Texas for a full weekend of elite roller derby competition.
