Dominion

Dominion the Dallas Derby Devils volunteer officiating crew. We are a unified team of officials working together on and off skates to keep every game safe, fair, and running at full speed.

Our volunteers don’t just show up for games, they’re part of the game. From tracking penalties and managing gameplay to skating alongside the pack and capturing every detail, Dominion brings the structure, awareness, and consistency that makes roller derby possible.

While most of our officials are passionate volunteers, a few are WFTDA-certified and/or MRDA-recognized, and all help officiate WFTDA, MRDA, and JRDA games.

  • Dominion volunteers are part of more than just game day.

You’ll find our crew at practices, scrimmages, and drills developing skating skills, supporting gameplay, and helping keep everything running smoothly. Many of our officials come from diverse backgrounds, including skating, other sports, and former derby skaters, bringing a wide range of experience and perspective to the team.

    Being part of Dominion means:

    • Being in the center of the action: every call, every jam, every moment

    • Learning the rules inside and out and applying them in real time

    • Supporting, training, and growing together as a unified volunteer crew

    • Developing skating, awareness, and decision-making skills

  • Want the best seat in the house? Whether you’re on skates or off, we’ll teach you what you need to know. No prior experience is required, just curiosity, commitment, and a love for the game.

Our crew provides hands-on training in real practice and scrimmage environments, helping you build confidence, develop skills, and grow as a volunteer official.

Whether your goal is to officiate local games or work toward WFTDA, MRDA, or JRDA opportunities, Dominion will support you every step of the way.

As a Dominion volunteer official, you’ll enjoy:

    • Training and mentorship from experienced officials

    • Opportunities to officiate games and events across all three organizations

    • Skill development on and off skates

    • A deeper understanding of the game from the inside

  • A fully-staffed crew typically consists of seven referees and eleven NSOs (non-skating officials). Together, they work as a unified volunteer team to ensure safe, fair, and continuous gameplay, keeping the game running smoothly from start to finish.

  • Nope. We’ll teach you everything you need to know.

  • Not at all—there are important volunteer roles both on skates and off.
